Children & Adolescents – Mental Health Treatment Overview

Referring a young person to an inpatient facility is not a decision than should be made lightly. However, if the time comes when hospitalization appears to be necessary, Coastal Harbor Health’s team of behavioral health specialists will determine the best course of mental health treatment. Led by a Board Certified child psychiatrist, our multidisciplinary team of nurses, therapists, teachers, and case managers will work together to create a treatment plan specific to each child’s particular needs.

Children and adolescents alike struggle with mental illnesses such as severe depression, anxiety disorders or other psychiatric issues. Some have multiple issues including substance abuse rehabilitation, ADD/ADHD, and developmental disabilities. Our inpatient programs take place in highly structured, nurturing environments where patients can develop a sense of self-worth, gain a tool kit of new coping skills, take part in mental health counseling programs, and learn to take responsibility for their behavior.

  • Full-time school (residential program)
  • Recreational therapy
  • Medication management
  • Community service projects (residential program)
