Children & Adolescents – Mental Health Treatment

Children & Adolescents – Mental Health Treatment Overview

Referring a young person to an inpatient facility is not a decision than should be made lightly. However, if the time comes when hospitalization appears to be necessary, Coastal Harbor’s team of behavioral health specialists will determine the best course of mental health treatment. Led by our Board Certified child psychiatrist, our multi-disciplinary team of nurses, therapists, teachers, and case managers will work together to create a treatment plan specific to each child’s particular needs.

Children and adolescents alike suffer mental illnesses such as severe depression, anxiety disorders, or other psychiatric problems. Some have multiple issues to be dealt with, including substance abuse, ADD/ADHD, and developmental disabilities. Both of our inpatients programs are nurturing, but highly structured environments where these kids can develop a sense of self worth, a tool kit of coping skills, and the ability to take responsibility for their behaviors in spite of their difficulties.

Therapeutic components may include:

  • Group therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Full-time school (residential program)
  • Recreational therapy
  • Medication management
  • Community service projects (residential program)
