Acute Inpatient Overview – Mental Health Treatment

Coastal Harbor Treatment Center’s Acute Care Program for children and adolescents is an intensive inpatient treatment program whose primary purpose is to resolve any immediate crises of a psychiatric or a behavioral nature. Using evidence-based practices, our team of behavioral health specialists provides structured programming in a therapeutic environment designed to deal with young people in crisis. Our patients range in age from 4 – 17, and most have been experiencing behavioral disturbances and an inability to function appropriately at home, school or elsewhere in their environment. Using a Cognitive Behavioral therapeutic model, we address the individual’s presenting problems so that he or she can gain the coping skills necessary to be successful upon discharge and promote long term healing. The programs in our youth treatment facilities include:

  • Individual Therapy
  • Family Therapy
  • Recreation Therapy
  • Group Therapy
  • Animal-Assisted Therapy
  • Aftercare Planning
  • In-house school (with parental consent)

Some of the conditions and diagnoses we treat are:

  • Mood Disorders such as depression and bipolar
  • Thought Disturbances
